5 Must-Haves for the Perfect Blogger Pitch to a Brands ~ TheNicheParent.com

As a network of digital influencers, Niche Parent is proud to bring you blogger opportunities for product reviews, sponsored campaigns and in-person events. But how often do you pitch your individual blog to public relations and brand representatives?  Do you know the key components needed in your pitch? Here are Five Must-Haves for the Perfect Blogger Pitch to a Brand.

Blogger Pitch

You pitch starts with finding the right contact information for who should receive it. Look around a brand’s website to see if there’s a media or public relations person’s contact name and information listed.  You can even connect with the brand on Twitter and ask who is the best person to reach. E-mail is usually the best way to pitch, but you may have some success just picking up the phone to call, introduce yourself and start the conversation.

Be specific. Introduce yourself and your blog. Explain how your audience is an ideal match for their brand or service. Ask for what you want to review or the type of relationship you’re seeking. Include links to similar posts and attach your media kit in the e-mail.

Time it correctly. The second week of December is not the ideal time to pitch a brand about a holiday item to review. Those posts should already be up and there’s a good chance the person you want to reach may already be out of the office for the holidays. Start sooner, rather than later. Think ahead to the next year.  What do you want your editorial calendar to look like? What are the types of brands you’d like to feature? Introduce yourself and get on their radar for future campaigns.

Follow-up. In your initial e-mail, tell the brand or public relations representative how and when you’ll follow-up with another e-mail or phone call.

Don’t be defeated. Every pitch you send is not going to get a “yes” reply. Learn from each failed pitch and each perfect pitch. Don’t take the answer “no” personally. Brands have budgets and obligations that may not be a fit for you at the moment.
