While Instagram continues to be a prominent social media force, it’s different from most platforms because it limits clickable links. You can add blog or sales page links to a Facebook page. A YouTube description box allows 1,000 characters for content, keywords and links. Twitter is a prime place to add links to your latest posts where supporters can retweet them. But for most Instagram users, link in profile is the only way to get followers from Instagram to your site. Linktree came on the market in 2016 with promises to allow Instagram visitors to go directly to a customized landing page with your latest links. But it has a few drawbacks that sparked the need for Linktree alternatives, some are free; others are paid.
What is Linktree?
Linktree is one of the most popular applications influencers use to drive traffic from their Instagram profile to their blog. It creates a customizable micro landing page in an Instagram profile visitors can click to visit on a site/blog/landing page/sales site.
Although Instagram users with more than 10,000 followers have access to the swipe up feature on Stories to send users to a site, users with fewer followers are limited.
With Linktree (free and premium), users can create and update their micro anding page that sends visitors to another page.
While this sounds appealing, Linktree has a few disadvantages.
- It can confuse visitors who leave your Instagram profile from Linktree.
- Linktree’s branding is noticeable unless you pay for the premium service.
- Linktree’s service has been known to fail and be temporarily unavailable.
