TikTok has been the breakout social media star of 2020. It filled the gap left by the absence of the Vine video app and took off. Vine stars have millions of followers and start their own trending hashtags. Bloggers are in two distinct camps. Either they’ve jumped on the TikTok app to share their content, or they’re dragging their feet because they think the platform “isn’t for them” or “it’s where the Gen Z’ers are.” This post is for the bloggers who think TikTok isn’t a place for them – when it really is. Instead of asking what TikTok stars have to share, we chose a more relatable group. We asked for insight from TikTok’s newbies who recently jumped on the platform. They’re sharing why you should join in too, and their strategies to grow.

TikTok Newbies Share Their Tips
We asked two members of our community to share their insight on what it’s like to join TikTok. They don’t have millions of views (yet) but they’re engaged in creating content, liking posts and following new users.
Newbie #1: Mandi Welbaum
@MandiWelbaum on TikTok | Blog: Moments With Mandi
Although Mandi doesn’t post her own content daily, she engages daily on TikTok:
“I don’t have high views by any means but I know the more active I am, the more I see it tick up (slowly! Ha!) My advice would be to find who and what you love, and then basically become a stalker. Like the videos, comment on them, like the other comments. Every time you post, go take those actions. Be active at different times of the day too, everyone uses it differently so you might see activity in the mornings and evenings rather than lunchtime.”

Newbie #2: Lyne A
@AnointedHeels on TikTok | Blog: Anointed Heels
You’ll notice from her TikTok profile that her daughters’ activities are the focus of her content:
“I would say to be consistent. Tiktok audience will watch anything entertaining, you have to keep posting or your profile get lost in the pile.
Post often. Because TikTok posts are so short and there are so many. Posting often does help at the very least one post a day.”
