The end of the year for bloggers can get so busy that it’s hard to stop and focus on the New Year ahead. Maybe you were busy creating holiday content or traveling to see friends and family to create a clear plan. We’ll break down an easily achievable list of New Year’s blogging goals. You can easily accomplish them and cross them off your to-do list in January or throughout the first quarter. We categorized them so you can focus. If you’ve done any of these in the past, leave a comment below and tell us about it.
New Year’s Blogging Goals
Review Your Year
Now that the holiday madness is over, it’s the perfect time to look back and recap the year that just ended. Then plan ahead to dominate these successes as a blogger in the New Year!
1. Write down what worked well in the previous year. Which blog posts saw the most traffic last year? Which social media platform(s) brought the most traffic to your blog? How can you boost your visibility on platforms where you’re seeing the largest reach?
2. Which brand opportunities were a big hit with your audience? How can you follow-up with those marketing connections to continue the partnership or expand it to a long-term ambassadorship? Has a brand partnership you’ve had this year helped you look at storytelling or content creation any differently?

Create Content
Step up the level of content you create at the beginning of the New Year. The goal is to keep the momentum going year-round. If you need to take a break or go on vacation, you can schedule blog posts and social shares ahead of time.
3. Launch a New Year/New You Challenge. New Year’s resolutions are popular but rarely create consistent habits. Will you explore this on your blog?
Start planning ahead for Valentine’s Day, Easter baskets or Mother’s Day gift guides.
Spring and Summer are ideal for travel content. By Summer, work on pitches for back to school content.
4. Take a deep dive into your blog’s search engine optimization (SEO). Is it time to invest in a premium SEO plugin or hire an SEO expert?
Is your blog’s theme optimized for SEO? Would a new WordPress them help boost your SEO?
If Google Analytics shows that your blog is popular for a term outside your niche, how can you maximize this opportunity? How can you work to re-establish your favorite targeted search engine terms?
