If we asked our community members what piece of equipment they use most to create content, their smartphones would be the number one answer. But the average iPhone users buy one with 16 to 32 gigabytes of memory. (Yes, you can buy up to 256 gigabytes at an added cost.) After taking photos for personal and professional purposes, bloggers can easily eat up the available memory on their smartphones. Here are five places to save smartphone photos for easy access, which frees up more space on your device.
How to Save Smartphone Photos
1. External Hard Drive
Use an external hard drive to connect via USB port to your computer. Although you can save photos on your computer’s hard drive, many people consider an external hard drive a more reliable and transportable way to save smartphone photos. Imagine what you would do about accessing your smartphone photos while your computer is getting repaired? An external hard drive would solve that problem.
2. The Cloud
iPhone users know Apple’s Cloud allows you to pay a monthly fee to back up the files on your phone. If your iPhone is ever lost or stolen, you can retrieve files from the Cloud. Sync photos with the Cloud for availability on all of your Apple devices.
3. Google Photos/Google Drive
Each Google product gives you 15 gigs of memory (for free) to back up photos, videos, and various files. Pay to upgrade for access to more than 15 gigs. Install these Google apps in your phone for easy backup.
